Warm Weather Refresh

Summer is almost here!
This is a great time not only for a good spring/summer clean but also a few fun updates to welcome the warmer weather.
On the exterior of your home, the obvious refresh is your front planters. If you haven’t already planted them, make sure your planters are full, bold and in the correct scale with what’s around them. If you opt for a single shrub/grass in each planter instead of a collection of plants, make sure it’s large enough to balance the pot it’s in.
Don’t forget to add plants indoors as well. This isn’t specifically a spring update 🙂 but one that will lift your spirits. It can also improve the air quality in your home.
This is a great time to think about refreshing your exterior paint colours if things are looking a little worn. Once the overnight temperatures are above 10 degrees Celsius, you’re good to go. A fresh coat of paint on your front door and garage doors can transform your home. On that note, remember your garage doors are generally meant to blend in with the facade of your home. Keep them neutral and in a tone that is complementary to your brick or siding. Reserve the impact for your front door. Time to store the fluffy warm throws and bring out the light woven ones. If you have invested in quality zippered cushion covers, you can swap them out also. Your warm weather set of toss cushion covers may be in lighter fabrics like linen or cotton. If your room is neutral, this is an opportunity to try out adding a little pop of colour.
In certain areas of your home, you might even consider rolling up your carpet for the season. Before you do so, or even if not, this is a good time to get those carpets cleaned!
Of course, if you have been holding off on a redecorating or remodelling project, this could be a great time to begin planning it. Projects often take much longer than people anticipate. So if a fresh look for the winter is what you dream of, best begin immediately!
