Interior Décor Is Not One Size Fits All
October 18, 2024
Someone recently commented that when viewing the ‘before’ photos of a project, it was difficult to see what was so terribly wrong that the client chose to redecorate. Gasp, sputter, shock! I don’t believe the intention was to offend 😀 so I gathered my emotions and reflected on the comment. I think I can explain.
You know the feeling you have when you are wearing a fabulous outfit? The kind of outfit that is not only flattering, but also fashionable (without being trendy), high quality and comfortable. It’s the outfit you wish you could wear everyday because you feel sooo good in it.
This is the feeling we endeavour to create in our clients’ homes. And, just like a great outfit, what works for one person, may not work for another. Décor is not one size fits all.
A good example is this Northumberland County primary bedroom. A first glance of the before photo of this bedroom feels okay, not overly offensive though spare 🙂. However, for our client, all of the dark elements felt oppressive and not welcoming. You can see in the after photo, how much lighter, brighter, layered and sophisticated it became. Additionally, we created more function by adding a reading area. Overall it is a warmer and more welcoming space. This is now a space that our client returns to happily recharge.
If your rooms don’t give you the feeling of that fantastic outfit, interior design and décor services may be something to consider. After all, we spend a LOT of time in our homes. Don’t we deserve to feel fabulous while at home?
