Great Accessories Finish A Space

You’ve waited a long time to finish your space. You feel like all of the big decisions have been made. You’ve selected the flooring, rugs and furnishings. The lighting is also settled. Hooray!

Yet… something doesn’t feel quite right.

It seems like a small thing, and maybe even an afterthought, but the finishing accessories you add to your space will make it feel complete.

The idea is definitely not to clutter up the space with knickknacks. Rather, it is to thoughtfully add items that are a reflection of you; items that add warmth, comfort and interest. This is your chance to pull out your collectibles or travel mementos for display on bookshelves or a coffee table. And, on that note, when you are travelling, think carefully about what you choose to bring back, and where it will live in your home.

Your accessories are also an opportunity to add in some colour and texture in a limited way. This is particularly welcome in a neutral colour scheme.

Though some may consider art an accessory, I believe it should be considered one of the main elements in a room, alongside the other primary selections. After all, original art will give your room soul. If chosen first, it may even provide the inspiration for the room design!
