Southern Beauty

Elegant retreat inspired by the surrounding wildlife in Athens, Georgia.

The principal bathroom for these lovers of nature was transformed into a fresh, welcoming space that is worthy of its lovely southern location. Done entirely virtually, this was a full service design project planned and executed at a distance during the pandemic.

This was the fifth home I’ve designed for this now retired couple, who purchased this bungalow as their forever home. It backs onto a picturesque ravine with deer and other wildlife visiting often.

The jumping-off point was the gorgeous glass mosaic tile on the shower wall. The rich green vanity continues the feeling of nature that the vine-patterned tile started.

The overall vibe is sophisticated and calm. We made choices that have longevity, such as the curb-less shower stall with a wider glass door. Should there be any mobility issues down the road, it is already equipped with easy access and grab bars.

“The reason I trusted Gaddah to be in charge of the renovation was that I knew she would ensure that work would be done to the highest standards, that she would maximize the budget, and that the final product would exceed expectations.  And it did.”
